About Us
In order to build National capability in the new bioscience, University of the Punjab established a nucleus Centre for Advanced studies in Molecular Biology. In 1986, the Ministry of Education upgraded the University Centre into a National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology.[more]
DNA Core Facilities
CEMB DNA Core Facility is equipped with state of the art instrumentation. It has three 16-capillary and one 48-capillary DNA sequencers and one 48-column DNA synthesizer.The facility has a capacity of analysis of over 2500 DNA samples and synthesis of over 200 primers daily. It has very competent, experienced and hardworking manpower.
Research Activities
Establish PCR based clinical tests for the diagnosis of infectious diseases, such as hepatitis, tuberculosis.Develop optimal invitro growth conditions for continued and sustained production of adult derived stem cell. To identify human genes for interferon alpha and clone them.
