FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY HELD AT CEMB ON 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY
August 14, 2024: The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) observed the 77th Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony today. The event was marked by a spirit of solemnity due to the recent passing of Prof. Riazuddin, the esteemed founding director of CEMB, on August 13, 2024.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Moazur Rahman, Director of CEMB, along with Prof. Rehan Sadiq, Director of the Centre for Applied Molecular Biology (CAMB). Also present were Mr. Mehmood, former directors Prof. Tayyab Husnain and Prof. Ahmad Ali Shahid, and senior professors including Prof. Kausar Malik and Prof. Idrees Khan. Researchers and staff members from CEMB also gathered to pay their respects.
Following the flag hoisting, special prayers (duas) were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. The gathering also made heartfelt prayers for the departed soul of Prof. Riazuddin, whose pioneering work and leadership established CEMB as a leading research institute in molecular biology.
In light of Prof. Riazuddin’s passing, the day’s celebrations were kept simple, reflecting the deep sorrow felt by the CEMB community. A Quran Khwani was held afterward, allowing attendees to come together in remembrance of Prof. Riazuddin’s remarkable contributions to science and education in Pakistan. His legacy continues to inspire current and future generations of researchers at CEMB.
