September 6, 2024 – Mr. Hafiz Ghufran, a Ph.D. scholar at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), has successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis today. His research, titled “Preconditioning Approach to Improve the Efficacy of Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Alleviation of Chronic Liver Disease,” focuses on enhancing stem cell therapies for treating chronic liver conditions. Mr. Ghufran conducted his groundbreaking work in the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Lab, where he studied the potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and how preconditioning techniques can improve their efficacy in treating liver diseases. His research promises to contribute significantly to the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy. His thesis work was carried out under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dr. Sheikh Riazuddin (late) and Dr. Azra Mehmood. Mr. Ghufran’s success marks an important milestone in CEMB’s ongoing efforts to explore innovative therapies for chronic diseases through stem cell research.
