The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) organized a one-day workshop focusing on computational tools for molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation in drug discovery. Held on May 15, 2024, at the Riazuddin Auditorium, the workshop aimed to enhance the understanding and application of computational techniques in the field of drug discovery.

The workshop commenced with a brief introduction by Dr. Rashid Bhatti, the focal person for the event. It is worth mentioning that over 180 participants from esteemed institutes across the country attended the workshop. Notable institutions represented University of Lahore, Kinnaird College for women, University of the Punjab Lahore, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, University of South Asia, Government College University Lahore, Lahore College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Superior University Lahore, Lahore Garrison University, Lahore College for Women University, Qarshi University, Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Minhaj university Lahore, The Women University Multan, University of Management and Technology, University of Central Punjab, Virtual University of Narowal, Government College University Faisalabad, Kinnaird college for women university, Nuclear Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, University of Jhang, and many others.

Director of CEMB, Prof. Moazur Rahman, extended a warm welcome to the participants, expressing his optimism for a fruitful learning experience. The highlight of the event was the insightful talk delivered by Dr. Hammad Naveed, Engineering Manager AI at Soliton Technologies Pvt Ltd., and former Academic and Administrative Head of the Lahore campus of NUCES-FAST. Dr. Naveed’s presentation on “Understanding the toxicity and repurposing potential of kinase inhibitors” captivated the audience and shed light on cutting-edge research in the field.

As a token of appreciation, souvenir presentations were made to the invited speakers, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the workshop. The session concluded with a group photo of participants and the organizers.

Later during the lab visit, Prof. Moazur Rahman provided Dr. Hammad Naveed with a comprehensive overview of the research facilities available at CEMB, emphasizing the center’s commitment to advancing scientific research and innovation.

The latter half of the first day featured a series of lecture sessions followed by hands-on practical sessions, allowing participants to gain practical experience in utilizing computational tools for molecular docking and dynamics simulations.
