September 2, 2026:<\/strong> US Consul General Lahore Stetson Sanders, accompanied by Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, where the distinguished guest was briefed on CEMB\u2019s cutting-edge research, technological innovations, and contributions to biotechnology.<\/p>

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the University\u2019s research capabilities and CEMB\u2019s pioneering work in modern molecular biology and biotechnology. Director CEMB, Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed them on the Centre\u2019s multidisciplinary research portfolio, scientific achievements, and ongoing initiatives.<\/p>

During the visit, the US Consul General and the Vice Chancellor toured several state-of-the-art research laboratories at CEMB, including facilities dedicated to stem cell research, biopharmaceutical development, and agricultural biotechnology. Faculty members and researchers briefed the visiting delegation about ongoing research projects, technological developments, and their potential applications in healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable development.<\/p>

US Consul General Stetson Sanders showed keen interest in the research activities being undertaken at CEMB and appreciated the Centre\u2019s efforts to develop innovative and locally relevant solutions through advanced molecular biology and biotechnology. He particularly acknowledged the dedication of CEMB scientists and their efforts to translate scientific research into technologies with potential societal and economic impact.<\/p>

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted the University of the Punjab\u2019s strong commitment to research excellence, innovation, and human resource development. He emphasized the importance of expanding international academic and research linkages and fostering meaningful collaborations between Pakistani and international institutions.<\/p>

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali also highlighted the potential of the University and CEMB to contribute to solving emerging challenges in healthcare, agriculture, biotechnology, and sustainable development through research-driven innovation.<\/p>

Director CEMB Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman briefed the delegation on the Centre\u2019s contributions to biotechnology research, development of skilled human resources, and collaborations with national and international research institutions. He also highlighted CEMB\u2019s efforts to transform scientific discoveries into practical applications and indigenous technologies.<\/p>
