July 30, 2026 — The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, congratulates its Ph.D. scholar, Ms. Samia Tanveer, on the successful defense of her doctoral thesis.

Ms. Samia Tanveer carried out her research under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Ali Shahid and Dr. Muhammad Shafique. Her research focused on the genetic etiology of suicidal behavior through the analysis of serotonin-related genes in selected psychiatric patients.

 Dr. Asif Nadeem, Professor at Department of Biological Sciences, Virtual University, and  Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Professor at Forman Christian College University (FCCU), Lahore were her external examiners.
