Punjab University-CEMB Showcases Innovative Research at 9th Pakistan Industrial Expo 2025

September 29, 2025 – Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab actively participated in the 9th Pakistan Industrial Expo 2025, held from September 27 to 29 at Expo Centre, Lahore. The event brought together over 200 industries from Pakistan and China, showcasing advanced technologies and products to a wide audience of industry leaders, researchers, students, and media representatives.
The Punjab University delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Aqil Inam, Director ORIC, included Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan (Director, Institute of Polymer & Textile Engineering), Prof. Dr. Bushra Rasheed, Prof. Dr. Kausar Malik, Dr. Bushra Ijaz, Dr. Muhammad Shafique, Dr. Mohsin Ahmad Khan, and Dr. Asma Ali Khan (Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology – CEMB). The team attended the inauguration ceremony on September 27, where Mr. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Chief Executive, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, graced the event as Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the Expo.
Punjab University showcased 20 innovative research projects and products, which gained recognition and appreciation from visitors for their strong industrial and societal relevance. The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) presented a diverse portfolio of research covering crop improvement for resilience, sustainability, and enhanced productivity; cost-effective genetic diagnostic solutions for human inherited disorders; forensic applications using molecular signatures; plant-based bio-pesticides and oral vaccines for livestock health; advanced therapeutics including stem cell applications, bacteriophage-based treatments, and biosimilar drug development; genome editing innovations in cotton, maize, potato and other crops; indigenous production of molecular biology reagents; as well as natural bio-based solutions for cosmetic and healthcare applications.
On the concluding day, souvenir was presented to CEMB-PU in recognition of its impactful participation and research showcase.
Punjab University’s strong presence at the Expo emphasized its pivotal role in driving research, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration for the economic and technological progress of Pakistan.
