Vice Chancellor GCUF Visits CEMB, Emphasizes Research Commercialization and Sustainability October 14, 2025— Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, Director CEMB, who introduced him to the project heads and briefed him about the ongoing applied research initiatives in health and agricultural biotechnology.
During the briefing, Prof. Moazur Rahman highlighted various projects aimed at addressing national challenges through innovative research and technology development. He explained how CEMB’s work in crop improvement, biopharmaceutical & proteomics, nutraceuticals, stem cells and regenerative medicine, genomics and genetic screening, and is contributing to advancements in public health and agricultural productivity. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam appreciated the quality and diversity of research being carried out at CEMB. He emphasized that the need of the hour is to translate scientific research into economic benefit and suggested that consultancy or financial experts should be engaged by Centres of Excellence to help promote and commercialize research outcomes with high market potential. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the sustainability of ongoing projects to enhance the professional and financial growth of researchers.
Later, Dr. Rauf-i-Azam visited various laboratories of CEMB, interacted closely with researchers, and commended their commitment and innovative approach. He lauded CEMB’s efforts in bridging academic research with societal impact and encouraged continued collaboration between academia and industry for national development.
