PU-CEMB PhD Scholar Successfully Defends Doctoral Thesis on Drought Tolerance in Cotton
January 16, 2026– A delegation of renowned medical experts visited the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, to explore collaborative research opportunities in medical sciences. The delegation included Prof. Khalid Saeed Khan, formerly Distinguished Investigator, Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Granada, Spain, Professor at the University of Birmingham and the Queen Mary University of London, UK, and Spinoza Professor at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, Former Provincial Health Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Punjab, Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad, Former Principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, and President of SNARE; Prof. Huma Arshad Cheema, Professor Emeritus of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at The Children’s Hospital, University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore; and Dr. Shehla Javed Akram, CEO of Don Valley Pharmaceuticals and Akram Medical Complex.The delegation was briefed about ongoing research in medical sciences by Director CEMB, Prof. Moazur Rahman.
The visitors toured the Stem Cell and Biopharmaceuticals laboratories and held detailed discussions on advancing translational and clinical research. The delegation appreciated CEMB’s state-of-the-art facilities and its role in strengthening academia–industry and clinician–scientist collaborations for improved healthcare outcomes.
