Field Visit to UAF and AARI Concludes COMCEC- and COMSTECH-Funded International CRISPR Training at CEMB

September 25, 2026: The 4th and concluding day of the COMCEC- and COMSTECH-funded international training on “Genome Editing and Crop Biotechnology to Address Climate Challenges” concluded with a field visit to University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad.

The tour was led by workshop focal person Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayyum Rao and Dr. Allah Bakhsh under the supervision of Director CEMB Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman.

At UAF, participants visited state-of-the-art labs and were briefed on advanced biotechnology research. At AARI, they visited the cotton research fields where they observed the breeding program in which *cotton varieties developed by CEMB are being used in many advanced breeding lines a practical demonstration of lab-to-field translation.

International participants from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh and Tajikistan along with Pakistani researchers appreciated the exposure visit and the hospitality of UAF and AARI. The programme concluded with a networking lunch.

The first three days of the training included theoretical and hands-on sessions on CRISPR/Cas genome editing at CEMB, followed by the closing ceremony on September 24, 2026.
